Capilano RFC member Glyn Jones has recently passed away after a brief illness.
Glyn was president of the BCRU in the 1980’s. He was born in England and came to Canada in 1957. He played for the West Vancouver Barbarians and later became a rugby referee. He was involved with the Capilano Rugby Club and was instrumental in organizing its successful tour to the 1st Rugby World Cup in 1987 in New Zealand. He even played in the final game of that tour (at 54 years of age ) and cracked a rib, which unfortunately caused him to miss most of the RWC final match at Eden Park between The All Blacks and France. He was also a key figure in the development of the Cap’s clubhouse facilities at Klahanie Park in the 1990’s. It is unlikely that without his drive the clubhouse project would have come to fruition. He will no doubt be missed by the members of the Capilano RFC and the BC rugby community. Continue »
