In December 2005, the BC Rugby Hall of Fame was launched. In three years, nineteen individuals and one team have joined the Hall. To honour the fourth wave of distinguished inductees and to celebrate BC Rugby’s major award winners, please join us at McMorran’s, Beach House in Victoria for the 2008 BC Rugby Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Awards Banquet to be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008.
The BC Rugby Hall of Fame Class of 2008 includes:
- Lloyd Williams (Pioneer)
- Tillman Briggs (Builder)
- Spencer McTavish (Builder / Player)
- 1958 BC Men (Team)
The cost to attend the banquet is $65 per person or $600 for a table of 10, which includes a gift for all those in attendance, and a tremendous evening of camaraderie while celebrating our brilliant past and our exciting future.
Oxford University RFC’s, Anton Oliver will provide the keynote address for the evening. Known as the “thinking man’s rugby player”, Oliver amassed 55 caps for the New Zealand All Blacks between 1996 – 2007, and is currently attending Oxford where he is completing a Masters in Biodiversity, Environment and Management.
The evening will also feature a live auction, with guests able to bid on a trip for two to Langara Fishing Lodge and other premium items.
Along with acknowledging those being inducted to the Hall of Fame, BC Rugby is proud to recognize their major award winners for the season past at McMorran’s. The major award winners for the 2007/08 season are as follows:
- Annie McGeachy, Joan Spray Award
- Tony Whitham, Jack Patterson Award
- Alan Hudson, BC Rugby Official of the Year
- Mandy Marchak, Canadian Direct Insurance Women’s Player of the Year
- David Biddle, Canadian Direct Insurance Men’s Player of the Year
- Marlene Donaldson, BC Rugby ProMOTION Plus Leadership Award
