What a great day for the community! Not only was it a thrilling day of rugby — particularly given the wretched weather — but it was of great benefit to the general community and those amongst us that have been personally touched by cancer, near or far.
The socks, sunglasses, cupcakes, Dragon Boat ladies — it all contributed to a very successful day of awareness, and perhaps more importantly, fundraising. I would like to thank all those that contributed: the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club and its supporters, as well as the Rowers and Brit-Lions; our Capilano alumni, players, executive, coaches, sponsors, supporters; and our social committee.
I understand that close to $2,800 was raised to assist in the fight against breast cancer — a truly cooperative and successful event that hopefully will become an annual edition to the Capilano calendar.
Again, many thanks.
